In this unit, children investigate the ingredients used in making cold drinks and how they could combine a range of ingredients to make a new drink. They will think about nutrition, cost and, most important, the sort of flavours and textures that their particular consumer prefers.

This unit of work includes: an editable medium term plan, instructions with supporting symbols/tick boxes, as well as, separate word bank symbols (could be used in a similar way to PECS). Soft skills include effective communication and social interaction, working with increased independence and reading. Allows for inclusive learning, supports independence and encourages those with SEND to remain engaged. Visual supports encourage communicate with a child who has difficulty understanding or using language. Research has shown that visual supports work well as a way to communicate.
